Lasith Malinga Retires From All forms of Cricket.

Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga has decided to retire from T20I cricket, calling an end to one of the sport’s great careers.

This was announced on the pacer’s social media accounts. Malinga took 546 wickets in 30 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 84 T20Is for Sri Lanka.

Malinga last played a T20I for Sri Lanka against the West Indies in Pallekele in March 2020.

Malinga’s international career was filled with amazing highs while representing the Sri Lankan national team. Malinga captained his team to victory in the 2014 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Malinga, a formidable pacer famed for his terrifying yorkers, is the highest T20I wicket-taker with 107 scalps. Malinga has two T20I hat-tricks to his credit.

Malinga also had three hat-tricks in one-day international cricket, with his effort against South Africa in the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies going down in history. Malinga withdrew from Test cricket in 2011 to focus on his fitness and the shorter formats of the game.

On Twitter, he said: “I’m hanging up my T20 shoes and retiring from all forms of cricket! Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way, and I look forward to share my expertise with young cricketers in the future.”
